When is titanium the only hope, how hopeless is hopeless?
Dr Alex Khominsky graduated with a BDS from the University of Adelaide as DUX of his class. This included receiving the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award, Moore Medallion and Executive Dean's Certificate of Merit. Alex's research interests also led him to complete a concurrent BScDent (Honours) in Craniofacial Biology, which resulted in a couple of publications and then led to further research on Osteonecrosis, and more recently systemic disease links with Periodontitis.
Alex has worked at the Alfred Hospital looking after patients who were undergoing organ transplants, cancer treatment, trauma and bleeding conditions, as well as in general private practices in Melbourne and being involved in teaching at the University of Melbourne. Alex then returned to the University of Melbourne to complete his DCD Specialty in Periodontics.
Alex is a Study Club director of ITI (Malvern) and member of the Australian Society of Periodontology. In 2019 he co-founded General Dental Residency (GDR), an institution and community dedicated to the comprehensive education of recent graduate dentists and oral health therapists. He firmly believes in the value of comprehensive education and the support of the whole professional community.
Alex has a special interest in periodontal medicine, implants and bone and soft tissue grafting to enhance function, aesthetics and longevity of the dentition. Alex is practising as a Specialist Periodontist in Victoria with rooms in: Malvern, Blackrock and Wodonga, and welcomes new referrals.
